Sugarman Estate (also known as Honua Kai Lani)

We were so lucky to have found this site only hours before Glenn was scheduled to leave island.  The whole island has a 10PM noise curfew, so Sugarman wasn't any earlier than any other outdoor venue.  Porta-pottys are required for groups over 50 people, but we can suggest that the house toilets are for the ladies and the others are for the Aussie boys (who, I'm afraid to say, generally go in the bushes if there is a lot of beer involved anyway).

It's cheaper and closer to Kihei/Wailea than Olowalu.  It also has a more private "Estate" feel than an old plantation/camp.  Since we're going for intimate elegance, this was the pick for us.

It has to be booked through a wedding coordinator--doesn't have to be Pacific Island Weddings.

We have more scouting pictures of both Olowalu & Sugarman (including short videos) email me if you need them.

After-Party
 Researched and Scouted Locations:

Mulligans Restaurant and Pub

Picture
Because we met in Ireland, we thought that it would be cute to have the after-party at an Irish pub. Plus, it's across the street from the Kea Lani hotel where a few of our guests are staying.  Only down side is that I've been told that it's packed with locals on Sunday nights.  We'll see when we visit again in August.

Well, we went.  It's definitely a PUB! It's a great place for young people to go for a casual drink, or the guys for a beer on tap.  My mom was too funny: she sat down at a table and then got a little uppity because no one was serving her.  Luckily, FI is quite practiced at going up to the bar for himself :).  It's generally bar service only.  Huge long rectangular bar fills most of the main room. Good, but loud, music.

Conclusion: The boys will head there for a drink and pictures right before the ceremony.

Three's Bar & Grill

Picture
This place is new, and is in a location that is notorious for failed restaurants, but I really think this one will make it.  For one, the food is excellent!!! It was one of those meals where, to steal a line from the movie The Switch, I caught my self "making love to my food" complete with the silly "mmmmm" noises with every bite.

They also have a "Surf Lounge" area.  It's a moderately sized room that is fairly open and has fleetwood doors that open onto a lanai.  DJ Ron has a contract with the establishment and has set up the lounge with premium speakers and lighting.  And, to top it off they have about 10 full size leather sofas and cocktail tables for the ultimate "VIP lounge" experience, at least for Kihei.

Conclusion: After-Party @ Three's!
