The Dress

I've been looking at wedding dresses for years, so I had an idea what I wanted: strapless, dropped waist, slim A-line, few precise embellishments.

I went to the store at Queen K on Maui with my mom to test out if what I wanted would actually look good on me, and it did.  So, then off to Elly's Bridal, also on Maui, that specializes in Maggie Sottero gowns.  I tried on four gowns there.  My mom, sister & I fell in love with this one...I didn't want to take it off.

The Shoes

Here are the top three contenders, which I ordered from www.shoebuy.com.  Once they arrive, we'll see which one I like the best. FYI: My sister ordered hers from www.amazon.com, and my mom and MOH ordered theirs from www.zappos.com.  If you find a pair you like, try doing the Google Shopping feature and sorting by price, that helped us decide from where to order.

Well, I tried them on.  And, it looks like it's going to be the first one.

Bridesmaid Dresses

Picture
I wanted something that my bridesmaids could wear again and again.  I know we all say that, but it's not always a reality.  So, I went with a simple "little black dress."

I found this on www.dessy.com.  It's "After Six Style 6273."

Groom & Groomsmen

Initially it was a full black suit, and then it may just be black pants and short-sleeved black button-up, with flip flops.  But, it drastically changed once we started shopping.

In the end, we decided we wanted the whole event to be more formal. Once FI decided that he wanted to wear a vest that kinda up'd the formality and ruled out the possibility of flip-flops :)  Then, once we went to the stores to try on GM outfits, it was apparent that the vest needed a tie to go with it.  Then, we decided that if the GM wear a tie, so should the groom.  And there you have the evolution from flip-flops to tie.

FI is wearing a black shirt, black pants, black vest, black dress shoes and an ivory tie to match my dress.  See blurry photo below.
GM are wearing similar clothes except for a white shirt and a coral tie to match BM's bouquets.

Another Tie Option

FI will wear an ivory tie to match my dress, and the groomsmen will wear these coral ties.  Found a large selection at http://www.solidcolorneckties.com.  They're really cheap: $4 each.
